This is Martin Cooper, The research giant at Motorola
The first ever cordless (wireless) phone call was made in April 3, 1973 by Martin Cooper, a researcher at Motorola. The funniest part of it was, the first ever call was directed to his rival in another company, (Bell Labs), Dr Joel S. Engel.
The invention was sold for $3, 995 and two pounds. It took the company a dramatic ten year to be able to commercialize their invention and in March 6, 1983, the phones were in the market.
The talk time of these mobiles was one hour, 30 minutes and it took 10 hours to fully charge it!
That mobile would not have been a good device in Nigeria even now....
