Although this has been on a while now, I deemed it fit to share it with our readers and followers who might not be aware of this or do not know how to go about it.
MTN called it DATA GIFTING. What is it all about?
According to MTN, it is a service that allows you to send data bundles to your friends and loved ones by simply paying for them.
This makes theirs (MTN) quite different from others. Others share data bundle that you already have but MTN makes you buy and pay at the same time. This means that whatever data bundle you want to send to your friend, you must have the equivalent amount in your account. For example, if you want to send 100MB to your friend, you must have #1000 in your account since 100MB is sold for #1000.
In this way, you can also send data to your other devices like modem, smartphones etc.
HOW TO SHARE
1. Register for the data gifting plan by sending the keyword "Reg" to "131" and you will receive a unique authentication pin, SAVE IT.
2. Text keyword "Gift[phone No.][data bundle code][pin] to 131. Example: GIFT 0803XXXXXXX 104 0000. Where 0803xxx is the receiving phone number, 104 is the data bundle code (10MB) and 0000 is the pin sent to you.
You can also share by dialing *131# and following the on-screen instructions
